Do you think this is common?
Do you think this is more likely to occur in a hospital, nursing home, home care, clinic, out-patient setting, school of nursing, or another setting?
Is practicing nursing without a license a crime in your state? Felony or misdemeanor?
Someone I know is pretending to be a nurse, but is a student nurse. Not only allowing clients to believe she is an RN (never comes out and says she is an RN, but never corrects people who assume she is--and she is doing catheters and meds!), but has in the past used another nurse's license and name to sign off on documentation.
I don't know what to do. If I turn her in, the company will get in trouble and close and I'll be out of a job. Yet my conscience bothers me, I'm afraid she's going to harm someone by misdiagnosing or treating them, and I don't think it's right to lie just because you want to take a shortcut to nursing.

It is in MO. You can't say you're a nurse and not have the license!
