How about this as opening statement when you enter a patient's room.
The chit chat is nice about the weather and your kids but how about saying this when you walk into a patient's room. You introduce yourself, the hours you are working, and you discuss and review the nursing plan of care for your shift.
You establish credibility and you let a patient and their family members know what to expect for your shift.
