This is actually the title of a CE program (Ohio Nursing law and rules) I present for nurses in Ohio.
I am seeing more professional boundaries and professional sexual misconduct cases involving the State Nursing Board. If you don't know anything about professional boundaries in nursing then you are in trouble.
Start by reading the National Council of State Boards of Nursing handbook. See https://www.ncsbn.org/Professional_Boundaries_2007_Web.pdf
Then look at your State Nurse Practice Act and State Nursing Board regulations for professional boundary and sexual misconduct language. Its there you just have to look.
My question for you is based on your State Nurse Practice Act and State Nursing Board regulations and the standards of professional nursing practice is the following okay:
Nurse A cares for Patient B during his hospitalization at Happy Hospital in September 2009 over 6 days. Patient B contact Nurse A in October 2009 and the two start dating. The relationship becomes intimate immediately. Nurse A moves in with Patient B and essentially becomes his home health nurse and case manager because of his post-hospitalization and rehab needs. Nurse A and Patient B decide to marry in April 2010. Nurse A finds out in December 2009 she is pregnant with Patient B's child. Patient B is readmitted to the hospital and Nurse A's unit in January 2010.

What are the issues (if any) here? Did Nurse A violate the State Nurse Practice Act/Nursing Board regulations? Is her conduct professional? Is her conduct ethical?
