I have three hearings scheduled in the next couple of months. Hearings take preparation time. I am being contacted by nurses who need representation for a hearing scheduled for the following week. Come on!
If receive Notice that a Hearing has been scheduled in your case, contact an administrative law or license defense attorney ASAP. Don't sit on this for a few weeks because you are losing precious time. A continuance may or may not be granted in your case.
Contact The American Association of Nurse Attorneys (TAANA) at www.taana.org for a referral to a nurse license defense attorney or administrative law attorney in your state.
Speaking of the State Nursing Board, I used to advertise my services in the State Nursing Boards newsletters and have done so for over 5 years. Effective immediately I am no longer advertising in the State Nursing Board newsletters in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana. Why?
1. Internet advertising is the way to go and the future of advertising and marketing IMHO;
2. The company which ran the ads consistently screwed up my ads in Ohio, Kentucky, and/or Indiana. So I am breaking the chains and not to mention print advertising is so expensive in the State Nursing Board newsletters. The prices recently increased even more.
Not that I can't afford it but I am conscious when it "comes to the cash" and to run one ad for one quarter in one state nursing board newsletter (remember I am licensed in three states) cost me more than it costs me to host this blog and my websites for the entire year. I receive more bang for my buck here and on my websites than in a print newsletter published quarterly.
3. I would receive calls from nurses related to the State Nursing Board newsletter ads but the majority of my inquires are referrals from my blog, my websites, speaking engagements, State Nursing Associations, clients, and/or from other nurses. I will continue to do some limited print advertising but not with the State Nursing Board newsletters or for that matter the State Nursing Associations newsletters.
Lots of attorneys are pulling out of the yellow page advertising because of the expense. Attorney adertising in the yellow pages is very costly, you are talking hundreds to thousands of dollars per month depending on the ad. When is the last time you checked the yellow pages for anything? We don't have any yellow or white pages in our home; talk about a blast from the past.
With a tearful good bye (I am being a drama princess) I am saying farewell to the State Nursing Board newsletter advertising in 2010: out with the old and more of the new.
Moreover why chase ambulances when you can drive the ambulance to the hospital yourself or assist with the triage? I am cool (and licensed) like that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQgHfhzgdc4
